Housing Type: Detached or townhome. He is mostly quiet but needs a dog-free environment.
Fenced-in yard: Preferred, but not necessary
Special needs: Gilbert requires a gastro diet.
This handsome dude is searching for his kindred spirit! He loves every human he meets and every human cannot get over what a lovely boy he is too!
Gilbert came into rescue with severe wounds after being attacked by several other dogs. He has completely healed externally, but he did lose one of his eyelids.
As you can imagine, Gilbert is searching for a home where there are no other pets after his ordeal. He is not good with other dogs and wants very badly to chase cats when he sees them. He doesn’t require a fenced in yard if his people are comfortable walking him knowing he will have a reaction when he sees other dogs out and about. Gilbert would much prefer a fenced in yard where he can follow his nose safely and without the worry of running into other dogs. He would love play time with his person in the fenced in yard in lieu of walks.
His kindred spirit is someone who is home more often than not (although he can be left alone just fine) and understands that Gilbert just wants to love and be loved by his people. Gilbert hasn’t lived with children, but he’s very well behaved with the children that he’s met. Because of his size, we think he’d do better with older children.
He is a lover, a best friend, and all the makings of a true soulmate for the right home. While he has other pet restrictions which may make him harder to place, we also know what he gives back in return is pretty special. He is worth it.
Gilbert is hoping his forever people love reading - he’s a literary fellow after all! In the words of LM Montgomery, “when you are imagining, you might as well imagine something worthwhile.” We imagine that by now you are almost as in love with Gil as we are and are picturing your life together.
