Gertie – a lover of chin scratches, naps, and wearing the cutest sweater to keep her warm after she gets a haircut. When getting chin scratches, a Wookie-like sound will emerge from her 13-pound body, and it is just about the cutest thing!

11-year-old Gertie is currently taking medication to help with her arthritis. This helps keep her spry and moving around comfortably! She is pretty low energy but does enjoy strolls outside and time spent exploring in between naps.

Gertie tends to get cranky around dogs her size but does well with dogs who are larger than her. She much prefers when other dogs ignore her. Gertie is living with cats and dependent on the day will either chase them around or snuggle up on the same bed as them. Dog-savvy cats would be the recommendation in her forever home if there are any.

Gertie is not one who likes to be picked up. Or get back scratches. Or belly rubs. They are just not her thing, and that’s okay! But because of these preferences, we are recommending a home with children, if any, that are dog-savvy and able to respect her limits.

Gertie is looking for a loving and quiet home where she can take the most wonderful naps on a cozy dog bed and get all the chin scratches!

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant including registration. Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is often unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.

Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 90-mile radius of Minneapolis; however, we will consider up to 250 miles if the adopter is willing to drive to cities as needed.
