Georgia is a 4-year old beautiful Goldendoodle, she is the perfect medium size dog at approximately 40 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Georgia lives in a foster home where she has a foster mom, dad, and older teenagers. There are two other nice dogs in the house and Georgia gets along with them just fine, but needed a slow introduction, as she does not like dogs she doesn’t know until she knows she can trust them. Georgia follows her foster family around and asks for a pet by nudging your hand with her nose or paw. She is very smart and knows the commands sit and shake. She knows how to go to her crate, however, she does not like being in there and will bark a bit. Georgia is trusted to have free roam of the house, even when she is home alone. She is not destructive at all. When she wants to go out potty, she goes to the door and gently pushes the bells hanging from the doorknob. She is perfectly potty trained and her future owners should be prepared to take her out on a reasonable schedule. She is really smart and wants to please her people.

Georgia spends lots of time napping on the floor. She prefers the floor to dog beds and furniture. Her favorite is a cool tile floor in the bathroom. Georgia gets really excited around meal time and will run and wait in her crate for her food. She is very food motivated and will respond to treats easily, making her very easy to train. She loves toys and bones as well. Being out in our fenced backyard with us is her favorite place. She loves to chase the ball (but not always bring it back). She will chase anything you throw to her – sticks, leaves, balls – she isn’t picky, she is just happy to have some attention in the fresh air! Georgia sleeps nicely in her foster parents’ room and is quiet all night until the family is ready to wake up.

Georgia’s new home would be best if she were the only dog. She needs time to trust dogs that she doesn’t know. Even when she does trust them 100%, she mostly ignores them. She likes all people. A home with older children would be best, as Georgia occasionally guards her toys. Georgia will need regular trips to the groomer, as her poodle fur needs to be cut when it gets too long. She does not shed and likes to keep herself very clean.

MEDICAL INFO: Georgia has Addison’s Disease, which is treated with prescribed medication. Dogs with Addison’s live a normal life span. However, she will need to be medicated for the rest of her life. The estimated cost of the medicine is approximately $100 per month. There may be less expensive generic options available through a pharmacy. In addition, she will need blood lab work at least once a year to make sure no adjustments are needed to her medication.

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
