Meet Garfunkel! He's a large high energy youngster, full of pep and puppy antics, we think maybe a year old. Garfunkel appears to be some sort of black lab mix, and will probably be a big boy! He came to us so scared, he did not want us to touch him. After several days, and lots of doggy treats, he came to realize we meant him no harm and was soon an attention-loving and playful rascal! Garfunkel was brought in by the public, smooshed into a crate with another young dog (Simon, who has already found his new home). Apparently the dogs had been running loose, for a while, and someone was able to catch them. We think he's about a year old. Although Garfunkel doesn't seem to have had much, if any, training, he has already learned how to sit for a treat, and is actually pretty good on a leash. He doesn't quite get the idea of "fetch" but does love to play with toys. He can easily jump to face level (we're trying to work on that), and is just so excited to come out for a walk, he can hardly contain himself! Garfunkel will need training, love, and patience. We don't know if he has ever lived in a home, so his new family will need to be prepared to potty-train, etc. He really seems to be more interested in human company than the company of other dogs. Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR) regularly works with the wonderful volunteers at the Del Norte County Animal Control Shelter located out in rural Crescent City, CA (a small coastal town on the OR/CA border). They have a very small shelter with small indoor 3x6 kennel runs, low foot traffic, odd adoption viewing hours and it rains a lot which means the dogs can't always come outside to play--so we want YOU to see some of their really great dogs that they have up for adoption. It's only a short 5-hour drive from Portland to adopt your new family member!

Del Norte County Animal Control is located in Crescent City, CA. They are open Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.
