Meet Frosty (ADOPTED!)

**FROSTY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!** Pal's Place would love to introduce you to Frosty, a special guy in need of a special family! Frosty is a senior male white German Shepherd looking for a loving forever home. Long-time followers of Pal's Place know we have a soft spot for German Shepherds and blind and/or visually impaired dogs, so when we heard of a visually impaired Shepherd in need, there was no way we could not bring him into our adoption program! Frosty is estimated to be at least ten years old and weighs 85 pounds. He has a cataract in his right eye, leaving him completely blind in that eye, and he has minimal vision in his left eye. Frosty's malnourished frame and fly-bitten ears at the time of his rescue indicate he has had a bit of a rough past, but that's all behind him now! Despite a seemingly tough life, he remains one of the happiest and friendliest dogs we've ever met.
Frosty loves and adores people and is highly affectionate. He greets everyone he meets with a giant smile, sloppy kisses, and a wagging tail. He is also being fostered with multiple other dogs of all sizes and gets along with them. However, like many Shepherds, he is very mouthy when playing and greeting new dogs. He probably did not spend much time with other canines before his rescue and can sometimes get overstimulated by them, especially when being introduced for the first time. His mouthy style of play, vision impairment, and social awakardness make it challenging for him to read the social cues of other dogs, causing some to lose their patience with him. He would do best in a home with patient dogs with a similar play style as him or as the only dog in the house. The older dogs in his foster home do not always appreciate his excitement, but despite being a senior, he gets along quite well with the young dogs and puppies since they share a similar play style!
Frosty is well-behaved in the home but is always looking for snacks to snatch! He will still counter-surf if given the opportunity, and trash cans must be kept out of his reach, or they are fair game for raiding! We think he may have been missing regular feedings before his rescue, which has left him quite obsessive about food. Despite being a senior, he still has some energy and loves going on walks through the neighborhood and chewing on Nylabones. Frosty is crate trained and does well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. He is recently neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), and has had a senior blood panel completed. He does have a grade 2/3 heart murmur, but chest x-rays revealed a heart of normal size and clear lungs, so at this time, no medication is needed, and simple monitoring is recommended. Frosty has also had a senior blood panel completed. Overall, he is in good health for a senior pup. Frosty would love to find a retirement home for his golden years; could it be yours?! He is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application has been submitted and approved by the rescue. For more information or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org
