Meet Freya

Freya has been in foster for TWENTY FIVE MONTHS. Let's find this good girl a home finally. She's located in New Orleans LA email animalhelperneworleans@gmail.com

Freya is a 2.5 year old bully with cerebellar hyperplasia. The cerebellum did not form correctly. She weighs 47 lbs.

Currently Freya is in a foster home and doing so well! The first week, we had a couple accidents in the house due to adjusting to her new environment and getting on a new schedule, but we haven’t had a single accident in weeks! She prefers females but warms up to males. But seriously, I rarely see a dog this gentle with children! She doesn’t steal food from him or off his toddler table and is listening to commands like “leave it” and “off”. She will also sit for treats. We take her on walks around the subdivision to meet all the neighbors and their dogs, and she’s done wonderful with that. She’s so low maintenance, she’s tired after a short walk and honestly requires minimal exercise. She loves stuffed animals, hard plastic toys, or a frozen marrow bone is her absolute favorite. She’s crate trained and will go right in it when you ask her. We’ve left her alone up to 8 hours and she’s done just fine. Although she is rather needy when you get home, and will follow you everywhere for some attention! She is definitely a couch potato and loves nothing more than curling up in next to you on the sofa. She will bark and growl if she hears a noise or someone knocks at the door, but we appreciate that! She’s eating twice a day with her Prozac in the morning. Her prescription is only $30 for a 3 month supply and you just toss it right in with her food, no problem. We’ve dealt with zero food aggression issues. Freya and my two other dogs eat in separate corners of the kitchen. They all patiently wait until each other is finished and then go lick each other’s bowls to make sure they got every last crumb. She does share her water bowls just fine though. We’ve introduced her to chickens and she was a little unsure at first. She tried to gently sniff them out and that resulted with a peck to the nose, so Freya has decided chickens aren’t her friends and she just stays away (yes, a bully and a chicken can peacefully coexist in the same yard!) Shes been cornered a few times by the chicken in the yard. She squeals for help while hiding from the chicken. Once you give this girl a little bit of time to get comfortable, she turns into a total love bug! She’s seriously the sweetest little thing and so low maintenance, I’m not sure how she’s not adopted. The current dogs are starting to guard the toddler. Freya doesn't understand and just kisses them. She absolutely adores the toddler and would love a toddler in the home. When it storms she hides in the toddlers tent.

She is spayed, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm and flea prevention. She's had multiple exams. Her condition will not worsen. You only notice when she runs. Her front legs are straight. She will always need prozac.
