Name: Frank
Breed: Lab mix
Age: 6+ years
Dogs: No
Cats: No
Kids: 18+ only

Frank is searching for a very special home that will help keep him in a safe, loving environment. Frank needs to be someone's Very Good Boy. But he has several quirks that require some specific parameters be met in his new home to make a successful match. Please fully read his bio below.

Frank will do best in a home in a rural setting, with a securely fenced area to romp and play in. His previous home was a rural area and he did really well there BUT he is a very territorial boy and does not allow strangers on the property. A fully fenced area for him will eliminate how and where he can guard while people are visiting or repair people are on site, and so on.

With his humans, Frank is a lovely, happy, calm boy who love to hang with you and watch you putter around the house and yard. He is loving and gentle with his humans and will make a fantastic companion for a home looking for a Very Good Boy, but also a Very Good Guard Dog.

Frank will do best as an only dog. He does get along well with some dogs but is hesitant with others. He also is very guardy of his food and treats with other dogs and does not like them around, at all, while he eats. All in all we feel he will be happiest on his own and have his humans all to himself. Note that while Frank does not guard his food from people he will guard bones and high value treats. We've found giving him those to have, all on his own, outside where he can keep them safe and away from everyone, is best.

Frank is a smart little guy and is super food motivated. Working on obedience skills with Frank will be a fun bonding exercise for both Frank and yourself. Note that Frank is French and currently knows many commands but all in french.

Frank came to us with a bite history - as mentioned above he does not like people coming onto his property and on his last rural property he had free run outside and was, he believed, protecting his home/family/yard. A new home that is dedicated to ensuring Frank and visitor are safe is required. A fully fenced yard for Frank is mandatory. An adults-only home is required. A home that understands territorial behaviour is needed, and one that uses positive methods to help Frank learn good behaviours is a must.

Frank really is a special boy and we believe he deserves a chance to find a home that will keep him safe and understand that safety of visitors will be required. If you feel Frank might be a good match for you, and you have the right environment for Frank, please fill out the online application found at www.herdaboutrescue.com.
