Meet Francis
Francis is one special pup. He has survived physical abuse, neglect and abandonment, yet has remained so loving towards mankind! His resiliency is truly profound. He's an incredibly loving and affectionate boy who LOVES to be a lap dog, snuggle up beside you while you read a book or watch TV. Sleeping in bed with you is a MUST for Francis!
Due to Francis's traumatic past, he does have separation anxiety and must be crated in a high impact kennel when left home alone. His Foster-to-Adopt family must be willing to continuing working with our certified dog trainer, Max, with Ready, Set Train to help Francis through these behaviors prior to finalizing his adoption. All training services, food, supplies, Veterinary care etc. is covered by The Compassionate Village during the preliminary "Foster" period.
Francis has an incredibly strong prey drive and cannot live with small dogs, cats or other animals. He has done well with friendly, large dogs in the past, yet due to being in boarding for several months, he's become overly excited and reactionary to some dogs. Formal, slow dog introductions with our trainer with be required during the home visit and meet and greet with potential adopters.
Francis is excellent with children and loves all people! He loves car rides and going on adventures at the park! Hold on tight though, because when he sees a squirrel or a bunny, his prey drive kicks in and he becomes a puller on leash. This is also something that we will continue working on with our trainer (who Francis adores!).
If you'd like to meet Francis, please submit an adoption application for him today! If approved and Francis appears to be the right match for you and you for him, we require a minimum 2-3 month Foster-to-Adopt period for every approved adopter. This affords our dogs proper time to decompress, adjust and develop a bond with their new humans, home and lifestyle, all while having the support of our organization and trainer every step of the way, ensuring long-term successful outcomes for you and your fur baby!
