Etta

Breed: Yorkshire Terrier mix
Gender: Female, spayed
DOB: 7-16-19
Weight: ~13 pounds
Microchipped
Adoption Fee: $350

Etta is an adorable, VERY ACTIVE, Yorkie mix that came to us from an area shelter. She's a sweet little girl with a lot of attitude who needs a slow start in her new home. This means, as with any new dog to your home, you do not grab her, hug her, or kiss her during your getting-to-know-you time! Give her the respect she deserves.

Etta was adopted from the shelter and brought back because the family did not give her time to adjust and allowed their children to grab, hold, and handle Etta right from the start. She snapped, but did not bite. However, because of this behavior, and because it is so difficult for us to convince intelligent adults not to mess with a dog in the first few days- don't hug, don't kiss- we are seeking a home without children.

Now, if you are the kind of person who can be respectful of dogs you don't know (she's not your dog yet and will need time to become your dog), who believes in training a dog to be a welcome member of society, knows how to set rules and provide daily activities for your dog, then Etta may be a great choice for you because Etta is a blast! She's independent, curious, playful, gets along with other dogs, has done great with her foster family, and is eager to go on adventures! She's also got terrible leash manners, so would not be a good choice for someone who has challenges walking. She would be a great hiking partner and, area dog-friendly cafes and breweries! She still needs to work on her manners when out and about, but will be fine with training and practice.
