Ella is a special girl. If you are looking for a dog who will adore you forever and be your constant companion, look no further! She would love to snuggle on the couch or even in your bed. Some of her special needs are probably due to living in a kennel environment and not having enough to do with her time. Maybe you can help her with that?? She is on a special, high quality diet and has a propensity to eat things she shouldn't. She loves toys so much that if left alone with them, she may eat them! She is on some meds for a minor incontinence issue, not uncommon in older female dogs. The medication works well for her, and she will come with a good supply of it and her favorite food. Ella has mellowed considerably since her arrival here, but she still enjoys her walks. We would like for her to have a fenced in yard to run around in. She still likes to play but makes a great couch potato, too! We believe she would be best as an only pet, though with proper introductions and leadership, might be OK with an older, mellow, male dog. Absolutely no cats or other small animals, and because of the toy issue, no small children. Ella can be particular about what humans she likes (some people initially scare her), so meetings will need to be pre-arranged for best chance of success. Prior to adoption each dog is spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm (if appropriate), started on a heartworm preventative, tested for Ehrlichia and Lymes disease (both are carried by ticks), examined for external parasites and treated with a monthly preventative, vaccinated for DHLP, Bordatella, and rabies (unless the puppy is too young), dewormed, microchipped, and receives 30 of free ShelterCare Health Insurance.


Humane Society staff and volunteers who work with the animals have gotten to know them during their stay with us and can give you information about their personalities and habits. Our Adoption Counselors will assist you in selecting an animal who will fit into your family. We can provide you with a wealth of information on caring for your new pet. Just ask! This way, we can help determine which will be the best match for you, your family, and your lifestyle with the least amount of stress for everyone concerned. If we don't currently have any dogs that would make a good addition to your family, we can keep your application on file and call you if one comes in that's a good candidate!
