Eli is a sweet old man with a bad heart who is in need of a kind person to love him through his golden years. Eli is about twelve years young and he actually still has quite a bit of pep in his step. His eyes are bright and at first glance he appears much younger than his age on paper. Eli came to us from a local shelter. We don’t know his history (he was an unclaimed stray) but he was in such bad shape. He had been living outdoors and hadn’t had a haircut in years. Now that he’s been cleaned up he’s just as cute as can be! Medically we have gotten Eli in good shape for his retirement years. He recently had a dental cleaning and his heart condition is stable now with the combination of three cardiac meds (Pimobendan, Lasix and Enalapril). Eli’s new humans need to be prepared for the ongoing cost of his medications as well as more frequent checkups at the vet as he gets older. Adopting a senior dog is a big commitment but knowing that you gave an older, discarded soul a soft place to live out his days will be your reward.

Eli gets along great with other dogs and cats. He loves to be held and to sit on the sofa beside you. Eli is good on a leash and he also enjoys exploring in a fenced yard. Eli uses potty pads indoors but he will also go potty outside. He tinkles a lot due to his heart medications so he wears a belly band during the day when he is wandering in the house. Foster mom confines him to a small area and keeps potty pads down for him when she is away at work and that works well for him. Eli is a joy to have around and we are hoping that he will have some good years to enjoy in his forever home. He is fully vetted -- neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations and deworming. The adoption fee is $300. We accept payment in the form of cash, CashApp and Zelle.
