Meet Dumpling

Meet Dumpling! She’s a two-year-old, 35-pound ball of kinetic affection! This one is all cattle dog puppy. She loves to spend time patrolling the back yard and has been happily coexisting here with two other cattle dogs for the past several months. Things were a little tense at first, but she’s warmed up to them and they to her.

Having been a stray, Dumpling never had the chance to learn proper behavior but she’s figuring it out, like any smart dog would. Though not completely housebroken, she’s getting much better. She’s been on medication that made it more difficult for her to learn but now that she’s off the meds, she’s learning to behave like my other two cattle dogs.

She’s very curious. She wants to know what’s behind every door and inside every box. Her new home will have to take this into consideration. She will benefit greatly from some more formal training.

Dumpling’s the most affectionate cattle dog I’ve met. She loves to jump in your lap and wallow in a hug. She has to softest fur you can imagine and loves to have it stroked for as long as you’re willing. She adores her people!
She’s not been around cats and given her exuberant nature, I suspect she would give them a hard time. I wouldn’t recommend she go to a home with them. I also think she probably shouldn’t be in a home with very small children. Her herding instinct is off the charts, and she’s been known to playfully nip at heels.

Dumpling is a bit of an escape artist. She’s content to roam the yard but if she sees something irresistible on the other side of the fence, she will find a way to get there. Again, she would really benefit from some formal training.
This dog needs a job. Nothing would make her happier than having space to patrol and a herd to protect.
