Duke - male DOB mid Jan 2024 -
Foster home says: Duke had a very eventful afternoon having moved from the shelter into a foster home on an acreage. He did great meeting our 2 lab cross dogs. Enjoyed a nice long walk, had a bath, and enjoyed chewing on a carrot. There are two children in the home as well as a cat or two.

Foster update Apr 6/24: Life with Duke so far.
He's energetic, happy and outgoing. He gest along great with my dogs. He doesn't seem very interested in the cats - leaves them alone. He enjoys bath time and will drink the tub water. Like most labs he is food obsessed and will happily teethe on a carrot. He sleeps very well in his kennel. He didnt make 1 sound until morning. He slept for 7 hours straight. He absolutely loves toys. He likes tug of war, playing fetch and just chewing on them. Only 1 accident in the house in the first days. He tries to get into the garbage and will work on that.

UPDATE Duke went on a trial adoption but was a bit too overwhelming for their older dog so he's still available for adoption. They tell us this: He's been amazing in the kennel overnight and while we are at work with no accidents. He's used to wearing a collar now and has been walking with a leash in the backyard.
Duke is a super fast learner in just the short 7 days we've had him. It took a day to get used to wearing a collar and a day to get used to walking with a leash. He knows how to sit very well and loves his treats. We were learning how to shake a paw and stay.

He loves to play with toys, balls, tug a war, basically anything. He is a chewer so will find things to chew on if you don't provide bones. So far he loves all kinds of different bones. He loves kids, but would be better suited with approx age 7 and up. Sometimes he will tolerate being held but a lot of the time he becomes too nippy when picked up and has to be put down. Because of his nipping it's suggested he not be around really young kids until he learns not to nip or in a home with young kids that are dog savvy. He's a very sweet puppy.

Our regular dog adoption fee is $250 which includes spay/neuter, first shots (booster if with us when due), rabies shot and microchip insertion (if old enough at time of adoption or brought to our local vets for surgery). Puppies that are not old enough to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption will require a $300 refundable (upon proof of surgery) spay/neuter deposit by way of post dated cheque which is held, not cashed, until date of cheque or pre-authorized debit.
