Duane Poodle & Shepherd Mix Owensboro, KY

Duane came to us in November as a scared, skittish, underweight dog with shutdown fear mentality. He has been in a wonderful foster home where he is receiving love and attention and learning the finer points of being a member of a family and pretty much learning how to be a dog. He is great with dogs and loves to play with dogs of any size. He is great with kids (but has been known to jump up so maybe older kids would be better).

He has come so far from where he started. He can still be a little unsure and skittish. His crate is his safe space and is comforting to him.

We think he is around a year old as of March 2024. He is house broken and has recently learned to walk nicely on a leash. He loves going for walks.

We are requiring a foster to adopt agreement since Duane will need additional time and patience. He might regress in his progress in a new environment. The potential adopter will need to live within 1 hour of Daviess County. The adopter must have a crate / kennel for him and meet with our recommended dog trainer prior to finalizing the adoption. It is also recommended that he goes to a home with another dog.
