Dottie Catahoula Leopard Dog Pass Christian, MS

Dottie was originally adopted by her owners when she was just about 8 weeks old. At some point, she was relegated to the backyard while her three furry siblings got to live inside. In true Catahoula fashion, she quickly learned how to escape and roam the neighborhood. The owner's solution was to put her in a kennel in the backyard, not an enclosure or a pen, but a wire kennel. This is where she seems to have grown up. Fast forward to yesterday...she escaped for her last time. The neighbors took her in and convinced the owners to release her to our rescue. And at that moment, her journey to leave her past behind began.

Once she was vaccinated, she landed in the foster house of all foster houses...a doggie daycare/boarding facility where she can mingle with the local cats and play with all the other dogs. She can nibble on food and clean water all day long if she wants. She even gets to sleep in a warm, safe, dry bed.

We have learned that she travels well in the car and is not food aggressive. We don't know if she likes to play fetch or tug-of-war yet, but we'll find out soon enough. She would make a great companion for any adventure as she is slender, fit and young.

Once we’ve discussed the pet with you and deem a potential fit, we’ll set up a meet and greet (either virtual or in person) at which time we can also conduct a home visit. If this goes well, we will verify your references, both vet and personal (if necessary). If all checks out, we’ll contact you to discuss further adoption arrangements such as transportation. Transport costs will apply on top of the pet’s adoption fee, which varies depending on the animal.

We reserve the right to deny adoption. Our job as a rescue is to ensure that the animals we save are able to leave their past behind and live their best life.
