Meet Dobby

Currently located in: Leominster, MA.
Adoptable in: ANYWHERE! (Transport available to most places!)
Good with dogs: While he adores puppies, he is selective with adult dogs, mostly males. Proper, slow introduction are a must! We have seen him live in harmony given time
Good with cats: Nope! Those are super fun chase toys!
Good with kids: Yes. As always adult supervision is always required when kids are present!
House trained: Yes!
Crate trained: Yes, he loves his house with his bed/blanket, and he eats in his crate to feel secure.

Attention all you witches and wizards, Dobby, the loyal house elf is hoping and praying the sorting hat will help him find a home. (Foster home OR FOREVER HOME)!!! Just like his name's sake from the Harry Potter series, Dobby only wants to find a master (s) whom he can call his own. He has been looking with the Whiskers Fund for quite some time, but don't fret - we never give up on our own. Dobby was rescued from a high kill shelter in a rural part of Georgia, was severely emaciated, and his skin was in rough shape, he has been with the Whiskers Fund ever since.

?**NOTE: Dobby's current foster home won't be able to house him much longer due to changing dynamics - we are actively looking for a foster home and a forever home***

Everyone, meet the sweet, loyal, well behaved (for the most part - even those who are the best behaved can get into mischief now and again), and PLAYFUL Couch Potato that is Dobby!
Did we mention Playful? Two of Dobby's favorite things are sitting in your lap (because if he fits, he sits!) and playing with his toys. Dobby thinks toys (and his people) are the reason for existing.... And to a good ol' boy - that is exactly what they are! If he could give you a list of specifics however, it would be SQUEAKY TOYS! They are his most favorite - and giving him a new one is like giving him a sock (if you know you know).... He also loves blankets and will carry them around the house with him. You never know when a house elf may need a nap so he is ALWAYS prepared. When playtime and nap time are done, Dobby loves the attention from his humans. He wants to snuggle you, and there is no such thing as too close... Especially if it involves Netflix and chilling or a pup cup. Dobby is fantastic on a leash, he knows sit, down, paw, place and working hard on stay. He is crate trained, house trained and loves to go for rides in the car.

Dobby is at the peak of his house elf days - coming in at 70 pounds, this lug is right around 3 years old. He had some skin issues when he first came to the whiskers fund, but with well-balanced kibble (we have tried many and found the best food for him is an ocean variety flavor of food that really does well with keeping his skin nice! Salmon oil supplement have done wonders for him as well!), and a nice bath now an again with some doggy lotion typically do the trick. He is fantastic for baths - so much so that his foster family will do them bi-weekly! His skin does require allergy meds to keep him from getting red/irritated but these are a very affordable solution. Additionally, did you see the size of those ears? All the better for listening to house secrets, but they too require a good clean out to keep them itch free! We have found great products we can share with you, and again he does great - especially knowing the big treat and play time he gets at the end! Dobby loves his spa days as much as you or I would! There is no better boy to make a part of your family.

We don't know a ton about Dobby's life from before the Whiskers Fund, but he can be selective to adult dogs (mainly adult male dogs), and probably wouldn't enjoy a dog park or daycare for this reason.... He is happy as a clam basking in the sunshine on your deck. He does love to go on walks, hikes and adventures, and has the potential to be the best of friends with other pups that take the time to get to know him slowly. Dobby did live with his buddy Beavis (fellow Whiskers Fund alum) for a while and they had no issues. SLOW introductions to other dogs are a must. We don't write this to hear ourselves talk. Please pay attention with any dog that this is important to live in harmony! Kitty cat friends are a hard no for Dobby.

Dobby is ready for his forever home; he beat the odds making out of a high kill shelter and overcame severe emaciation and now has a solution to his chronic skin condition. He's ready to snuggle up in bed with you, hang out and watch TV or go out on any adventure with you! If you think you are the right home for him please apply to adopt here:
