Old Dogs New Digs is assisting with networking to find Dexter a new home. He is being fostered near Ellsworth

Dexter is a nearly 15 year old, 16# JRT mix who loves his person and wants to be near you at all times, even touching you. He will be your gentle protector. He has been doing well with the bigger dogs and cats in his foster home. Dexter recently went to a public event for Old Dogs New Digs and was a hit! He greeted all dogs & people with polite curiosity.

Dexter has a seizure disorder which is very well controlled with 2 medications. His seizures are very mild and can easily be missed unless you’re really watching; he will a bit for a minute or two, but that’s it. Nothing scary! His meds only cost about $20 a month.
For his age, he is very spry & gets around very well, He has mild cataracts and sometimes his eyes get goopy. He does not like you to clean this eyes will gently nip when you do. Other than that, he’s a total sweetheart and a Velcro boy who will want to sit right by you all the time.

Dexters ideal home would be with someone who is home most of the time. He will express his displeasure at being alone with a pitiful whine. He’d do well with dogs who aren’t wanting to romp as he’s outgrown that silliness. He has lived with and likes cats. Initially, He has not lived with small children, but would likely do well with a respectful child over 10.

Dexter is fully house trained. At first, he marked a few times in his foster home, but that has ceased totally. He just needed to settle in! He loves walking & hiking. He’s great in the car.
