Dewey Maltese & Poodle Mix Palo Alto, CA

This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, February 24th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event.

Dewey is an 8 month old Maltese x Poodle (Maltipoo) who can't wait to find his new band of Musketeers! Dewey was surrendered to the shelter with his pals after his former home was no longer able to care for them. Dewey was very shy and matted when we took him into our rescue, and we knew he just needed some TLC to show us his awesome self. Dewey has been building his confidence and is now ready for his next chapter. Dewey has a non-shedding coat which makes him an option for those with allergies. He will require regular grooming.

Below is a note from Dewey's foster.
"Dewey is a fabulously loving and snuggly dog who adores his people above all else! The first week we had him (straight from the shelter) he hid in his crate as he figured things out. Now? He runs to us when we enter the room, wagging his tail and giving us tons of kisses. He loves walks, loves cuddles, and since discovering toys is so goofy! Dewey is the perfect blend of active and loungey. He is happy to run around outside, hopping around when he needs to get his zoomies out. When he is ready for a nap though, he can curl up and dream for hours! He has discovered a love for toys and can keep himself entertained for hours at a time. Dewey has been making fabulous strides in his socialization and is now even opening up to groups of people by hopping into their laps!
Dewey wakes up at 7 AM and goes outside to potty. He sleeps in his crate overnight and politely waits for us to start our days when he wakes up. He spends his days hanging out with me as I work from home, with frequent breaks to play and romp outside. He gets a walk in the afternoon where we work on his leash training. In the evening, he watches some TV with us as we unwind from the day before he goes outside for one last potty session. He sleeps in his crate.
Dewey adores other dogs and would do well with another dog in the home as he continues building his confidence. He has a puppy friend who he can play with for hours at a time. Dewey was introduced to a leash for the first time with us and is still learning how to walk in a straight line. This happy, friendly boy can't wait to hop and skip his way into your heart!"

Dewey is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Ideally his new home will currently have a dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.
