Meet Dandelion

Happily innocent, vibrant, joyful. Our 2 year old, 55 pound Border Collie mix Dandelion is the animal embodiment of the joyful little flower. Housebroken (he goes potty on a schedule); great with other dogs, cats and children (although the children should be a bit older as he has a tendency to jump and get mouthy when excited); and a good leash walker and car rider, this boy is a simple pleasure who will definitely brighten your day.

While he does relatively well in a crate, he will need a strong one that is reinforced, otherwise he can pull a Houdini and escape. Dandelion sleeps in his crate and also enjoys laying with a toy in a dog bed. He is allowed on furniture at his foster house but doesn’t seem to relax there, he only lays on the couch while someone is petting or giving him the attention he desires.

Dandelion takes treats very gently (especially a peanut butter filled Kong), but is not really food motivated, in fact, he needs encouragement to actually eat. But even without food motivation, he seems to be a fast learner because he wants to please his people.

One of Dandelion’s true loves is playing; he will play outside with another dog or his person, inside with toys or with anything you are holding (especially clothes, so have lots of toys on hand).

Do you want to make a wish on Dandelion? If so, then fill out an application now and make plans to meet this boy soon.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Come to the show to find out if this dog is the right fit for you — it's helpful to bring all family members and current dogs.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
