Daisy Italian Greyhound & Chihuahua Mix Lacona, NY

We would like to reintroduce everyone to Daisy. She is a 2.5 year, under 15#, Italian Greyhound mix that has been in a few foster homes since her move to NY last Summer. This super sweet girl came to us from a situation of neglect and abuse that left her with some internal scars that will be a work in progress in a new home. Daisy is a very loving girl and very loyal with those in her inner circle. Daisy prefers women to men but we believe in time and with a little patience, she would get used to a man in her home as well.

Daisy's ideal home would be with a single person or a couple who are both willing to take time with her to help her open up. She is super sweet within a short while of meeting someone and tends to bond with them very heavily within a few days. She is an active girl that likes to run and play in the yard if given the chance. She is housebroken but prefers to be off leash to relieve herself (in a fenced yard). She will then be near her human in the house as much as she can and often cuddle in and sleep either by their side or in her dog bed. She does get a bit protective of her human and will grumble if other pets are near so she should be an only pet in the home. She really is looking for a constant companion that can show her the love and attention she longs for and in return, she promises to be a loving, attentive and faithful companion until the end.

Daisy is well mannered and very gentle with taking treats and giving them back as well. She knows sit, is learning down and is doing well with walking on a leash. She is a quick learner. Daisy rarely barks, the exception is if she is unsure of someone/something. She isn't a real fan of toys but she does enjoy walks in the park. She really should have a home with a fenced yard since she does get the zoomies once she is comfortable and likes a good run around.

Daisy is a diamond in the rough. She just needs someone willing to give her a little bit of time and patience to overcome some of her fears and continue to build confidence. Give her a chance and she will steal your heart

Daisy is such a gentle, sweet and loving dog and she needs a forever person that understands she isn't perfect, but she may be perfect for them. Won't you help us find this sweet girl a home?

Although she is looking for a specific type of home, we know that home is out there, somewhere, and they likely need her in their life as much as she needs them. Please share this post far and wide and let Daisy know that she is valued, loved and deserves a home.

Daisy's ideal home would be:

•Within a few hours of Adams, NY so she can get continued care when needed. (We have had several dogs go to the Ithaca area since one of our volunteers goes there monthly with her own dog.)
•Would have no other pets in the home since she prefers to be an only child.
•An adult home is needed for Daisy so she isn't pushed out of her comfort zone.
•An active home with someone who likes to walk and has a fenced yard would be best so she can get out her zoomies but still explore the world. She will be a great activity partner if you are looking for one but then settles nicely by your side.
•With someone willing to continue her training with compassion, patience and love and understand Daisy will likely never be a social butterfly or one to go to dog parks or doggie daycare, but that's ok

Fostering is free and vetting is provided by the rescue. She has been examined, vaccinated, spayed and started on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. If choosing to adopt our small dog adoption fee is $400, due when being officially adopted.

Adoptions limited to a 500 mile radius of Pulaski, NY and pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes.
