Meet Crawfish
Hi, my name is Crawfish! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Bashful, silly
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history with kids. Since Crawfish is a bit timid with strangers we are recommending older teens (16 years and up) who are dog-savvy.
-Can Live with Cats: Not recommended due to unknown history and high potential for prey drive.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Crawfish would love to live with another dog! He would likely do best with another energetic dog who enjoys playing. Introductions will be scheduled to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended due to size and energy levels.
-Potty Trained: Seems to be.
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: One class may be required depending on adopters' experience.
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes a neuter
-Additional Information: Crawfish is a young shepherd boy who is looking for a loving forever home. He will need a family that is dedicated to continuing positive reward based training to work on Crawfish's confidence. Crawfish arrived as a stray to the shelter so his history is unknown, and he was quite afraid of strangers when he first arrived. Amazingly Crawfish has been adjusting well to the shelter environment and has already gained new skills and confidence from working with staff and volunteers. It would be beneficial if Crawfish's new adopter had german shepherd experience. Also, keeping a consistent schedule with plenty of daily exercise will help Crawfish feel secure and structured. His favorite time of day is when he gets to go play with his fellow shelter dogs, so he would likely enjoy living with another canine companion.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
