Meet Cooper
Cooper is a four year old Cane Corso about 115 lbs
He came back to the rescue because of an extremely unfortunate situation having to do with Covid struck a family and they could no longer care for him. They knew the best decision for him would be to rehome him in an appropriate place where he would have a nice fenced yard and people that understand the Cane Corso disposition and who will love him as much as they do. That said, we want to do our due diligence and place him in the most wonderful home that has knowledge of the breed and is looking for a loyal companion.
Typical to the breed, Cooper can be leery of strangers and protective of the home. Once he gets to know your visitors he is fine but you must understand that he is only doing his job. We are looking for an adult only home and as I said we do prefer a fenced property.Cooper did live with another dog but prefers to be your one and only. He lived with an older teen (16 and up ok)
People with prior Corso or other 'guarding' type breeds will be considered first. You must have experience with these types of dogs or a good understanding of this type of dog as well as serious dog experience. Cooper is a real mush once he gets to trust you and will be a loving companion.
He has an absolutely beautiful dog and deserves the best.
Cooper has been boarding with our behavioral trainer since 12/20/20 who will assist any adopter going forward with phone calls or visits to the home if they are local. The first months will be covered by the rescue (we do not anticipate him needing any further training he's doing so well) He is in Danbury Connecticut-We will call you once we receive your application and then we can move forward and have you meet Cooper with the trainer and see if it is a match.
