Colby is estimated to be around 17 months old and is 50 lbs.

Have you seen a more handsome pup than Colby? How could you resist giving his nose a boop? Colby has been in his foster home since 1/27/24 and enjoys cuddling on his dog bed with his sister Amber or alone. Colby was rescued from Hall County Animal Control on his “euthanasia date” along with his sister Amber. So many volunteers worked hard to save him at You Lucky Dog Rescue and Hall County Animal Shelter Volunteers.

Colby is a confident and friendly boy who consistently seeks affection from his foster family. Colby is walking better and better on the leash, but he needs consistency and boundaries, like learning the command “heel.” Just like his sister, Colby is happiest when chewing on hard NylaBones on a dog bed. Colby is learning to take treats from his foster parents, and he really enjoys praise and head scratches.

He lives in a foster home that includes his foster mom and dad, college-aged human brother and sister, 4 dogs (males and females), and 2 cats. Colby interacts with all of our dogs while on a leash and does not have free-roam of the house. He has not yet been introduced to the cats.

Colby is crate-trained and does not have accidents in the house or crate. He settles easily in his crate or on a dog bed. Since Colby is young, he does not have a blanket in the crate because he will chew or shred it. He understands the toileting routine of our other dogs and will whine if he needs to go out. Colby sleeps in his crate at night or when his foster parents leave the house. Colby is not food aggressive and does not resource guard - he will allow you to take food or toys/bones away from him Colby is starting to eat his meals outside his crate. Colby is very toy motivated and loves to take all of the toys out of the basket and place them around his dog bed. He will then chew on each one for a bit before taking a snooze.

Colby is more confident than his sister Amber, and she looks to him for guidance and companionship. He would love a confident dog sibling to play with. He would do best in a home where he gets lots of personal attention, and time with his people. Colby is still learning basic obedience like “sit” and “stay.” Colby is looking for a forever family who likes to go for walks and will provide him with lots of bones to chew on. Don’t miss out on a chance to adopt this lovable boy!

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
