Meet Cleopatra

Hi there! My name is Cleopatra but my friends just call me Cleo. I’m an 11-month-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix weighing 40 pounds. I need a new home because my former family was evicted and couldn’t keep me.

Several people have said that I am the sweetest dog they've ever met. Yeah... that's right, I am one loving pup! Matter of fact, whenever my foster mom bends down, I run up to her and smoother her with kisses. Are you okay with that kind of slobbery stuff? Well... I love to play "kissy face" with my foster dog sister named Keylee, too. I'm an all-around love bug! You better watch out when you sit on the couch because I will jump up and place myself right in your lap.

I'm hoping to find a forever home that already has a playful dog that really loves to wrestle, play "kissy face" with, and run around in a fenced-in backyard. My foster mom says that I have a well-rounded personality: her two dogs and I love to play in the yard, but then we just find places to relax back in the house. It’s a perfect balance of playing and napping! Sometimes we play inside, too.

Every night we wrap up the day by going on a long walk. I am really good on a leash other than that I like to say hello to people and dogs by barking at them. Once I get up to them, I am quiet and often roll over to get my belly rubbed. My foster mom says that I am doing better at keeping my barking to a minimal amount now. I like car rides but I can be a bit vocal in the car. I just want to alert you that I see someone in a car or that I see a person walking or something. Rides are so exciting!

I don't want to brag, but my foster family says that I am the perfect package. I am not sure exactly what that means but it sure sounds good. I hope you'll provide me with toys because they're just so fun to play with. I haven't chewed on furniture at all but I've been known to sneak a sandal and walk around the house with it. I've never chewed on one yet so my foster family just laughs at me. Haha!

Well... what are you waiting for? Fill out an application on me if you think you and I would be the perfect match. I hope to meet you this Saturday!

Please check our events page at http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org to find where this dog may be shown this weekend. If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must send an application or email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along. :-)

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near Chicagoland... we are sorry but we cannot accept any out of state applications. We look forward to speaking with you!
