Chip is a 2 year old black velvet Great Dane. He is fostered in a home with a couple and their 5yr old female Great Dane Millie. Chip has been good with all dogs and humans he is properly introduced to, but prefers not to play or be pestered by other dogs. Millie is a very low key dane. He and Millie enjoy each other’s company, but also enjoy their time off doing their own thing; so we believe Chip would be fine as a sibling to a calm canine companion, or as an only dog.

Chip is also fine with cats! While his foster mom went on a quick vacation trip over a long weekend, Chip stayed with another one of our nearby fosters in a home with a senior female dane, a male mixed breed mutt, and a cat - and did well after proper intros with all.

Chip is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat! He’s a great eater. One of the funniest things about him is when he toots, it surprises him and he hops up and looks around wondering what just came from his booty! Hahaha.

Chip can be protective of his favorite humans, especially when there are visitors in the home or people walking in unannounced. For this reason, he would do best in a home WITHOUT young kids or a household with lots of unexpected and unannounced visitors randomly dropping in. However, as long as all guests are properly, slowly and calmly introduced into the home- we believe he will do fine with them. Like with all dogs meeting new people in their home; its best to give him a little space and allow the dog to get comfortable with the stranger.

Chip likes to be the center of attention with his human(s). The only thing bigger than his personality, is his heart! He is a ham for attention and loves to be rubbed on.

Chip is totally potty trained, crate trained, and a complete joy to live with. He is always happy and loves his people big time. Watch out for your feet when he gets zoomies!!! This boy is a tornado on four paws.
