Meet Chip--active Lab

What a handsome boy! Chip is a lab that is about 18 months old and is looking for the right environment. Chip is an active lab that is super athletic. He is looking for a home where he will get consistent activity so a fenced in yard would be amazing for him. He loves to be around his people but also enjoys lounging around in the yard for a few hours soaking up the sun. And he isn’t an over -the- top barker either! Chip is housetrained 100% and doesn’t need to go out frequently which is always a plus for people who work. His current foster is really focusing on his training and so far he has learned sit, lay down, leave it and hear. He walks well on a leash and is pretty good about the command heel. With Chip, he can be obedient if you require it. We do not play tug of war with him as this gives him the impression that he can control the owner. He has a slight stubborn side so positive training and mental stimulation activities are essential. At 8 or 9 pm he decides it is time to go to bed. and puts himself on his dog bed for the night. He doesn’t get on the couch or chairs but will get in bed with you if allowed. Chip is very affectionate and wants to be close to you. ( He is quite the talent when it comes to licking you.)We set boundaries for him and are teaching him the correct amount of attention to give and get from him. Chip loves to play fetch and likes all sorts of dog toys. We won't be placing him in a home with young children as in his exuberance he may turn too fast and knock them down. Chip has so much to offer but he will need an environment that is stable. He gets overwhelmed with too many new experiences such as meeting too many people or dogs at one time or even gets overwhelmed with something he hasn’t seen before like a stroller. Because of this, his perfect home would be someone with a fenced in yard that likes to go for walks but not in a neighborhood with people everywhere walking their dogs and kids running everywhere. This is too overwhelming for him. However, if you are a homebody or live a bit remotely, you are going to love Chip! If you are looking for a smart dog that would enjoy hiking and likes to be trained, look no further!
