Meet Chief

Meet Chief!

Chief was adopted just over a year ago from us and he is looking for a new forever family. He is currently in a home with 2 other dogs and there are starting to be issues. One of the dogs in the home is a senior and does not appreciate Chief’s happy energy and invitations to play. The dog began growling at Chief, and Chief ignored him. Recently, the older dog has escalated to growling and snapping/biting at Chief. Chief has had enough of the bullying and bit the senior dog. The family believes it is in his best interest to find him a new home. There are no issues between Chief and the second dog in the home and he is great with all humans big and small.

Chief was evaluated buy a trainer at Paw & Order Dog Training to determine what type of home would be best. This is the evaluation:

Chief is an energetic, playful, 1 1/2 year old. He will come on demand. He is excited to see people when he first meets them and calms down after introduction. He loves belly rubs, and will sit and shake for treats. He shows no signs of aggression towards people at all and no resource guarding of high value play items, bones or food. From my observation, he is a loving, playful dog that is full of puppy energy. In my professional opinion, he does not pose a danger to humans and I recommend him to be in a single dog home unless he receives corrective training. I say that he needs corrective training for reactivity towards other dogs out of an abundance of caution. He has no issues with the other dog in the home and was provoked by the older dog who was instigator that triggered the initial fight. I might suggest that he could be rehomed with a dog in a home that has is respectful to other dogs.

Based on this evaluation, we would like to find a home for him where he can be his loving, goofball, self and either be an only dog or with a dog that can read cues and respects other dogs.

Chief is housebroken, well mannered, and loving. He loves hanging out with humans and even likes laying on a floatie in the pool! He’s really a great guy!
