You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents.

Chewy is a sweet, adorable, 5 year old, blind, Pekingese boy who recently came to our rescue from Texas. He is adjusting to the cold and snow but, goes out for long enough periods to use the potty. Once he’s pottied, he’s ready to come back in and get cozy. He does not have accidents in the house if he is let out every few hours and if he’s let out before bed, he doesn’t need potty again until the morning. He is fine with other dogs and we expect would be fine with a cat.
Chewy had surgery and no longer has his eyesight but, he will amaze you with his ability to get around. His vet work is complete and he is now a healthy boy. He learns his way around the house very quickly, going room to room to follow his humans, find his food and water, toys, couch, dog bed, and treats. He is very smart and cautious when it comes to getting on and off of couches, and figuring out steps in and out of the house. He is working on learning to do a full staircase to a second floor so his foster currently gates it for safety unless he is being monitored.
Chewy loves to play with stuffed toys a few times a day but, for most of the day he’s just really happy to be snuggled up with or following a human. Chewy would be happiest with someone who is home with him much of the day. Chewy is soft, fluffy, cuddly, and just loves being pet. At night he loves to sleep at the end of the bed. He won’t crowd you but, he likes to be nearby. This boy is a very calm, quiet guy if you are looking for an absolutely gentle, loving companion. He does fine with other dogs. Due to his disability, a house with no children or older children as well as calmer dogs in home is needed for Chewy.

All our dogs have been spayed/neutered; treated for worms; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 mths or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchip; and examined by veterinarian and given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed.
