Chevi has been through so much! Please read her story...
Two years ago, Maripat (the head of AFLAR) got a call that this 3-year-old pitbull was about to be euthanized at a vet office in Los Angeles. There was no time… it was either save her or let her be killed. Once again, we took a leap of faith, and with only moments to spare, Maripat arranged to have Chevi brought out to us!
Chevi had been found as a little puppy discarded in a trash bin, and later was in an abusive home where she was hit. Chevi was afraid of everyone.
But Chevi slowly made friends and learned to trust some people. It takes a few times and a proper introduction. But now she has her pack of people who she loves and trusts. Our AFLAR volunteers.
Chevi’s pack is growing too. She is trusting more. as loving people take the time to make friends with her.
But she is in boarding. We have been unable to find a long term foster or forever home for her yet.
Chevi is now a 5-year-old girl, and she so deserves a real home where she is loved and cared for. Not hit and abused!
Her own Forever Home is the only thing that will help her heal the rest of the way. She needs a quiet home. And a patient adopter. One who understands what it is like to be hurt by the people who are supposed to love you.
Chevi has blossomed into a fun girl who loves to play and snuggle with her trusted pack. She is full of personality and joy when she’s with the people she loves. Once she loves you, you are in her pack forever.
Chevi is okay with other dogs and not reactive on walks. She was in a foster home for a while when she had knee surgery, and she was such a good girl. She just needs a chance. That special person who wants to help a special dog heal.

Chevi is a super sweet, smart and affectionate 5 year old girl who gives lots of kisses! She loves to lean against you or cuddle on your lap. Chevi is always ready to give affection, whenever her friends ask. She will even stop for a cuddle in the middle of a walk which is her favorite thing next to cuddles. Chevi is a mostly quiet, lazy low energy girl in between her walks and play times.
When Chevi was if a foster home she made her foster mom laugh every day. Sometimes it's with a zoomie. Sometimes it's by falling asleep with her mouth open. Sometimes it's when she picks up her chew toy and purposely throws it across the room to show it whose boss. Chevi loves her toys and balls, and loves to run in the yard and take a nap in the sun.
Chevi's ideal home would be with people who have some big dog experience. She loves to go for walks and snuggle with her friends. A quiet home would be best. Children make her a bit nervous, and we don't know about cats. CHEVI would love to be your one snd only princess, but she has done well with a friendly, easy going male dog.
