Hi, I’m Checkers, and I’m a coonhound! They tell me my DNA came back 100% Treeing Walker Coonhound - neat!

I’m approx 1.5 years old, 55 lbs, and full of energy! Although I’m still kind of like an awkward teenager and am still growing into my body. I can be kind of klutzy and run into things or get knocked off my own feet. I’ve been told I’m a goofy hound boy and will figure it out eventually, but I’m having way too much fun learning things my way!

I have stayed in a foster home with lots of dogs of all sizes. I have been learning that the little chihuahua is “friend, not food,” but still like chasing him around, until he turns his chompers on me, then I tuck tail and run. I am still young and so I am still learning about boundaries with the other dogs who sometimes have to tell me that I’m being too much for them.

I am almost potty trained and will scratch at the door when it’s time to go outside. And when it’s time to come in, I will let you know by plowing head first into your patio door at full speed.

I am very athletic and love to run and will run in circles in the yard. I can also jump ridiculously high. I love to give hugs by gripping your hips, which often leads to dancing! And I do a lot of flipping and flopping and will “flip-flop” my way into your lap.

I spend my nights in a crate. Which I dont particularly care for, but I’ll do anything for a treat. I only whine about it for a little bit, and then I usually settle down.

In typical hound fashion, I am comedic gold and will have you laughing and asking “WTH” at the same time. I am a curious boy who will investigate everything! I am the sweetest boy and have so much love to give to my new family!
