ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! 03/24/2024 - UPDATE - Charlotte needs a special adopter. She had her bilateral TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) surgery. The surgeon reported that it was the worst condition he has ever seen dog's ears. Both canals were calcified and attached to her skull so a small portion of the calcified canals could not be removed. Her right ear had a large mass that had broken through the ear canal into the surrounding tissue. Unfortunately, the biopsy of the mass showed that it was a cancerous tumor. Since it could not be removed completely, she will need monitored for metastasis. Charlotte was in a lot of pain for a long time. Her right ear had a lot of infection and took strong antibiotic shots to clear the infection. Right now, she has problems blinking her right eye so eye drops are required. This condition may get better, but it may not, so she may need drops for life. Charlotte is healing well. She is becoming happier and asking for treats. She is allowing gentle rubbing of her ears. She is looking for a new home that will love her as long as she is with them. 01/24/2024 - UPDATE - Overall, I am a healthy girl, but I did have a UTI which is being treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately, since I never went to a vet and my ear infections were never treated properly, I will need total ear canal ablation (TECA) surgery. My ears are too far gone to be saved, and they will continue to become infected and be painful if I don't receive the TECA surgery. MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hello, my name is Charlotte. My owner asked CSAC to help find me a new home. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. I have a history of chronic ear infections and I was never taken to a vet. I was never groomed properly. I am receiving medications to help make my ears feel better. I am house trained and crate trained. I like to go for walks, explore and ride in a car. I like to play with toys and cuddle. I even know how to spin around if you ask. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished family pet again. Hope to see you soon. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen.
