Charger Description

Charger (named for the football team) is an F1b labradoodle born 3/24/2020. He’s low to no shedding and gets groomed every 6-10 weeks. He is healthy, up to date on shots, crate trained, and house trained. He needs a family without small children after developing a fear of our 2yo. He’s very comfortable with our 11yo and has not displayed fear- or aggressive behavior toward her.

You will love Charger because he will love you. He’s a big fluffy bundle of love and energy. He sometimes thinks he’s a lap dog and frequently asks for ear scratches or belly rubs. He would welcome full body hugs and kisses, though we try to discourage this level of exuberance. He knows commands: sit, wait, lay down, off, let’s go, heal, give, and leave it. With consistent training, he performs all of these beautifully.

Charger’s favorite activity is playing fetch with the chuck-it. He also enjoys zoomies, especially first thing in the morning or if he’s been cooped up for a while. Charger loves to pounce on fish in the lake and will also swim out with the big kids. He enjoys long walks with time to sniff the “peemail.” He would prefer a big fenced-in yard to play at home because he gets carsick and tolerates road trips only reluctantly. A fenced in yard is required.

Friends, neighbors, and even plumbers are charmed by Charger. At 80lbs, he has a big bark, which he uses when someone is approaching or entering the house. But once inside, he greets ‘his’ visitors with a happy tail and requests for pets and hugs.

Charger has always had some anxiety around loud or fast objects and has a tendency to bark, lunge, or chase things like cars, rollerbladers, birds, or thunder. Consistent positive training can nearly eliminate these issues and the medication he’s been on since developing a fear of toddlers helps with these anxieties as well.

Charger has never demonstrated fear or aggression toward the cat, but the cat does not like him. We frequently stay with relatives who have a dog and Charger gets along well with her. He probably would enjoy a dog sibling to play with, but he doesn’t love every dog he meets and sometimes resource guards so a visit or trial period would be important to make sure it’s a good fit.
