 Meet Burrito!

Are you looking for a furry best friend who is as delightful as he is adorable? Look no further, because Burrito is here to steal your heart!

This petite Shepherd mix, at approximately 2 years old and 47 lbs, is currently in foster care with an amazing dog trainer, learning the ropes of being the perfect companion. Burrito is the epitome of a well-mannered pup. He is house trained, crate trained, and knows his basic commands. Although he is still polishing up his 'sit' and 'stay' for longer durations, his eagerness to learn is truly commendable. In his foster home, he happily chills on his designated spot and plays well with female dogs.

While he may be curious about cats, he respectfully gives them a sniff and then goes about his business. Around children aged 10+, Burrito is a gentle soul. He enjoys their company and is a great playmate, although he can get a bit mouthy during play, so older kids would be the best fit for him. This handsome boy excels on the leash and is an excellent candidate for a nose work dog with his keen sense of smell and enthusiasm for activities.

Burrito is a total sweetheart who loves nothing more than snuggling up in your lap for some quality cuddle time. He has impeccable manners, waiting patiently for his food, to be let out of the crate, and at doorways. While he may be a bit shy and fearful of new guests initially, with a little patience and reassurance, he learns to trust. A household with few visitors in and out would be a better fit for him. However, someone with experience with shy dogs that can increase his confidence around new people and gradually increase his introductions to new situations would really help him to thrive!

If you're searching for a loving and loyal companion who is ready to embark on new adventures with you, Burrito might just be the perfect match! Complete an adoption application at rarerescue.org Burrito to see if he's the right boy for you!

We understand that it is important to you to find the right fit for your family. We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason.

All of our Adoptables are:

Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption

BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.

PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.

Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care.  As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.

***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
