Meet Bob

Hi, my name is Bob. I am not sure where I was for my first six months of life, but I did not like it and I do not think I had a name. Now my name is Bob. I like that name. When I first got to my new house, I was so CONFUSED, I was overwhelmed. There was so much space, and I was allowed to go everywhere. There were two other dogs and they really liked me and helped me begin to feel like a real dog. I also have 2 new cat friends. They do not pay attention to me, so I do not pay attention to them. There is also a bird, he says ”Bob come here Bob,” in my foster mom’s voice. But I know he is just a talking bird. So I do not pay attention to him either.
So many new things; a big yard to roll around in the grass, to run and run and play with my new sisters. My foster mom bought me some toys that are my very own. She also bought me a harness, I did not really like that at first, but now I am used to it and go for walks with my sisters. I am having so much fun.
I am cautious of strangers (stranger danger). But once I know they just want to play and not hurt me, I am fine. I think I may have been kicked in the past. When my foster mom extended her foot, just to keep me from running out the door, I jump back and got scared. She says she will not do that anymore and gave me lots of hugs. I liked that.
I eat with my sisters (we are on a schedule). My foster mom says it is really good that I do not have food aggression (not sure what that is but it sounds ominous, and I am glad I do not have it.) I like to ride in the car, but not if we are going to the vet, they wash out my ears, shove things where I don’t want them to and stab me. No fun!
My foster mom says I am not allowed to do potty in the house. I am really working to do that but still have a few accidents. I know a get a treat and lots of hugs when I do potty outside and get the stink eye when I go inside. My foster mom just looks at me, picks me up, takes me outside and says this is where good dogs go potty. Now my foster mom wants to say a few words.
Bob is a sweet dog. Most times he wants to be on my lap and sometimes he wants his space, but that is ok. He is an escape artist. Open a door and he is out before you even know it. Please do not use your foot to block him, it makes him scared. He has never shown any aggression, when I was picking burrs out of his fur, gave him a bath (I think he first) or dried his hair. He has recently learned the game of “keep away.” I am working with him on that, do not want it to become a habit. He is cautious of being given treats, must examine it closely before eating. He is frightened of some strangers. While on walks he will alert to some people and just ignore others. He has some separation anxiety, but we are working on that. It is not bad, but better to address it now. Again, Bob is a very sweet boy who is just looking for his forever home.
