BLITZ German Shepherd Dog Mix Broadalbin, NY

BLITZ is a sweet, funny, lovable oalf! Brought in to the shelter by animal control as a stray, we have no idea what he's been through but he is skidish when outdoors off leash in the yard. He may or may not come when called. He is getting better about it here but he is also trusting us more everyday. Until he is familiar with the home and what is expected of him you will need to let him outside with a drag leash - several weeks at least. He's what I would say high strung.. he's very nervous and hyper, especially in unfamiliar situations. He's crate trained and house trained. He's good with other dogs med to large size but NO cats, NO chickens. He has some hip and rear leg arthritis so he's on daily medication and while he likes to run around in the backyard he shouldn't be with dogs who are rough players. Underneath his gruff exterior he's a very gentle giant. He would be good as an only pet. Children need to be teenagers at least. He rides well in the car but has a hard time getting in if it's any height at all. A fenced yard is required as is an approved application and a home visit.
