Meet Biscuit - ADOPTED!

Meet Biscuit. This sweet little guy was seen running as a stray in a mobile home park for nearly a year, wandering from home to home looking for food and shelter. Apparently, his family moved away and just left him behind to fend for himself. He was known in the community and was often seen tied up outside near a local bus stop when he was with his previous ownersso them leaving him behind was a blessing in disguise. Thankfully someone finally reached out for help and that's how Biscuit made his way to the rescue.

Biscuit has been in his NC foster home for three weeks living with 3 adults, a teen son, three large dogs, one puppy, and a cat. He is relaxed around the other dogs, ignores the cat, and was quickly accepted by the pack. Like most dogs, he needs a little time to get his bearings but he loves to snuggle and is a natural lap dog. Biscuit is housetrained, crate trained, and walks pretty well on a leash.

Overall, Biscuit is a laidback, go-with-the-flow dog who attaches quickly and wants to be around you. At first, he was a little hand-shy when you went to pet him and would tuck his tail like someone might hit him. But now, he wags his tail and welcomes affection. He will still bark at random noises in a new environment, but as he settles that improves. He needs a little time to trust in new places but acclimates well and is very accepting.

We checked in with his foster mom, Jenn, for an update (4/1/24):

"Biscuit is an instant magnet for laps no matter who you are. When a stranger walks in the door, he may bark for a minute, wag his tail, and seem a little shy, but the second they sit on the couch he is their new best friend. It took him zero seconds to sit on our lap or wag his tail, but it took over a week before he would wag his tail while we were petting him or to play with Kira. Now they will race around the house or yard and then he will be wiped out.

He is housebroken and has had zero accidents in the house. He is a little finicky about pooping - he doesn't go right away in the morning but will go a while later after he eats and we take a walk. He will go potty on or off leash. He's been sleeping in a pen with our other foster. If we only had Biscuit, I would have let him be free roam in our house. He doesn't get into anything, doesn't chew on anything, and would have easily slept in bed with us or on the couch without any troubles.

Overall he is a really easy dog who just wants to cuddle and be with you. I have loved watching him blossom and as I write this he is on my lap playing with our puppy foster.

His barking needs a little work. Most of it is when he is not with you and hears a noise. When he's with you or out in the yard, he will stop with correction."

Biscuit will do best in a calmer home environment and would love a pup buddy in his new home. Cats are fine too. He likes to play but is best paired with a moderate-energy adult dog. He started playing with the resident puppy after about a week in his foster home, but she tends to wear him out. He gets most excited when it's walk time, loves laying in the sun, already knows his name, and will come when you call him. He's great in the car too and is happy to go and do with you.
