Birdie Bernese Mountain Dog Rochester, NY

Birdie is a 2.5 year old BMD that emotionally wears the scars of the puppy mill she grew up in. It has taken her months to truly open up to her foster mom, but she has proven with time and patience she can be resilient and loving. Birdie is housebroken, crate trained and great with dogs and cats. She is going to require a securely, physically fenced yard (a tie out/leash within that fence for the first few weeks) and an extremely patient person to allow her to become who we know she can be! She is extremely fearful. But, for her foster, she sleeps on her at night, gives her nudges at meal time, kisses, and is just the sweetest girl!! She will never be the social butterfly outside of the safety of her home and will probably forever hide from visiting guests. But, she’s got heart and we absolutely love this girl!! It is going to take a special person to win her over, but she absolutely deserves a happily ever after. Submit an application on the rescue’s website to be considered.
