Meet Bimini

Bimini is one of our original Aruba rescues - she was discovered in a hoarding situation where 25 chihuahuas were being kept in the home. She and her housemate Pedro were rescued by an island shelter, and they worked with us to bring them here to the US where they will have a better chance at finding a forever home.

She is a 10 lb Chihuahua mix with a ton of spunk and so much love to give! Bimini loves sitting on the couch with her people getting belly rubs and head scratches! Bimini is housebroken and wee-wee pad trained, spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. Walking on a leash is a work in progress and shes doing well! She loves to play with squeaky toys, chew on No-Hide sticks and sleep in a bed in the sun. When she wants to play she approaches wagging and wagging and bows.

She much prefers humans to other dogs and cats, I love to snuggle on the sofa with her person. but looks to dogs to give her cues on how to behave. Other dogs need to be tested, but should be confident and friendly. She would prefer to be with another dog to sleep with, and loves to chase her doggy friend around the yard, but will do fine as an only dog. No young kids please, they are unpredictable and startle her - older children are fine. Bimini is coming out of her shell more and more every day with a lot of encouragement from her foster family.

She has no food aggression with humans, but could snap at another dog and should be fed separately (remember, she was in a hoarding situation and had to fight for food.) She is a smart girl, and learning how to dog and to be trusting, and has made great strides so far. Her next family needs to continue helping her acclimate, and have patience as it will not happen overnight.

We think Bimini will be most successful in a forever home that is quiet and calm. Could be a couple with older kids, or single person, possibly a retired senior. She doesn't need a lot - just time, patience and love. She will make a wonderful companion dog!
