This animal is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is spread via a mosquito bite between animals, BUT animals on heartworm prevention are not contagious. This animal has started the pre-treatment for heartworm disease and will need to be fostered until the completion of treatment. For foster program eligibility: you must live within 35 miles direct route from our facility, have a valid form of identification and proof of rabies vaccination for other dog, cats or ferrets of household.
