Meet Ben
We love all of our dogs, but we are especially proud of this one, simply because he’s come SO far.
Ben was raised in our local homeless camp. He witnessed a lot of domestic violence, and while he was in the homeless camp he bit a woman (she was attacking his owner and had him pinned on the ground…Ben bit her in the butt). Needless to say, Ben came to us afraid of women. But today, he lets our female kennel attendant walk him, bathe him, and even trim his nails! He’s nothing but a big baby!
Some shelters might give up on Ben because of his bite history, but the context is very important. This boy is a LOVER, not a fighter, and he has never gotten to be a normal, family dog in a safe environment. He deserves that chance. If you ask our staff, current and former, who their favorite dog is, most of them will give the same answer…Ben.
Ben has been doing much better with other dogs since being neutered. He has had many positive interactions with female dogs. Ben will be microchipped before adoption.
We will disclose all of the details of Ben’s past to potential adopters. We can promise this…whoever ends up getting to love Ben forever will be very lucky. You will be his hero and he will give you his whole heart. Give us a call at 740-474-3741. You won’t regret it!
