Meet Becca

We are sharing Becca because she deserves a family of her own. She just spent several weeks moved to a new foster so we could see how she adapts and accepts. At this time that foster is heading on a long planned trip and we would love an adopter or foster to adopt to transition Becca to.

Here is the latest update on Becca while with Dinah. Both fosters have felt Becca would fit best in a quiet home with another friendly dog or two to be her rock. Ideally a female owner home. Fenced yard required.

“Becca is now a five-year-old beagle. She came to SOS Beagles 3 years ago as a 2 year old, born in a welded shut outdoor beagle lot with several others. She was never touched until the day we rescued them. Had her human showed one ounce of interest or kindness her life would be so different. We know she isn’t a fit for everyone but we do hope to find her that safe loving home. Her long term foster Johnna loved this gal and hopes along with us that a fitting home is out there and ready to love this quirky gal.

“Becca is completely crate-trained and housebroken. Becca is good with other dogs and completely ignores cats. She is OK with women, but she is terrified of men in the recent foster home.
Becca is extremely low-maintenance. She likes to follow her person from room to room, but usually does not ask to be touched. As she gets used to you, she will occasionally walk up to you and look at you, as if asking to be petted. If placed on her side and subjected to a belly rub, she will raise her hind leg to give better belly access. Becca shows little outward affection to humans and may never. She does like to snuggle with other dogs. She may get up on the couch with you, or on the bed with you after she gets used to you, if allowed. When she has been with you for a long time she will eventually become more feisty and playful.
If not in a fenced-in area, Becca will need to be walked on a leash. She does not try to dig out from under a fence, or look for ways to escape. But she also will not come when called. She will follow other dogs back into the house after going out. Once she gets used to you, she will come back into the house on her own.
Becca enjoys having her own kennel that she can retreat into, where she feels safe. She is accustomed to a 23" x 36" kennel, or a larger kennel with part of it blocked off. Walking her on a leash and making her heel before introducing her to her kennel lets her know she should listen to her human.
Becca has absolutely no aggression in her nature. None at all. She is fearful of many things, but will never try to bite. She will tremble when having her nails cut, but will make no move to fight the process.
Becca's adopter will need to be very patient, as Becca is afraid of everyone, and is easily scared. (If another dog plays too rough with her, she may stop eating for a day or longer.) On the other hand, Becca is so passive, low-key, and low-maintenance that patience is quite easy to have with her.”

Becca isn’t a jumpy dog so doesn’t jump up. No barking in her current home. She chooses to be in her kennel whenever the door is open and she can get in. Becca is one of the lowest-maintenance dog in existence per foster Dinah.

Becca is on Prozac and it has helped her to adapt in this recent foster move. Becca can get a bit wound up with visitors and sometimes consistently bark at them if in a group of other barking dogs. She did not do this at Dinah’s home.

Her long term foster Johnna is ready to take her back if needed but we know she has others at her home at this time and fosters for her area shelter.

Reach out if you can give this beautiful gal the home she deserves.
