Meet Beau

I have an adoption pending but hope that you will consider one of our other dogs in need.

You will fall in love the moment you meet Beau! With a heart full of love and a tail that wags non-stop with joy, this charming fella is eager to bring happiness to your world.

We at SGRR are always baffled when a nice dog like this goes unclaimed at a shelter. Beau, who was picked up as a stray in Elmore County, AL, is a stunning 5-year-old Yellow Lab of the English* variety. As sad as it is that his family was disloyal to Beau, the good news is that he is now a Sunshine dog, and Sunshine dogs only go to the VERY best homes!

Handsome Beau weighs about 80 lbs and has a nice thick coat with a fluffy tail. Beau is super sweet and very affectionate. He showers his humans with kisses, kisses, and more kisses!! He is good with other dogs and adores children as well. One of Beau's favorite things to do is retrieve and will fetch balls as long as you are able to throw the ball to him.

This is a wonderful dog who simply needs someone to love him. He is at a wonderful age where he has energy for a nice jaunt or some games of fetch and then he is happy to hang out at home.

Beau is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is being treated for heartworms in the south and is almost ready to come north to be directly adopted. Please contact Cheryl if you are already approved to adopt through SGRR and would like to adopt this precious boy. If not yet approved, please fill out an application to be considered.

*When compared to an American-type lab, the English type:
Looks more substantial with a heavier look about them. Bigger build with barrel chests, they’re noticeably wider and more ‘solid’ looking.
Has a wider head with a more pronounced and better-defined stop, a fuller face, a shorter muzzle, and a thicker, more powerful-looking neck.
Has a very noticeably thicker coat.
Has a wider, thicker, and generally straighter tail than their American cousins.
Has shorter legs and hence doesn’t stand quite so tall and has a shorter body.
Bred for confirmation they’re usually far closer to how the breed standard is written than the American type.
Are less exuberant, less full of energy, and aren’t as highly strung when compared to an American type Lab.

Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.
