Meet Bear

Bear is graduating from our Education Project for Inmates & Canines (EPIC) and looking forward to his forever home. He has learned a variety of skills that will help him succeed in his new home, and MCR staff will share all of his training plans with prospective adopters. Enjoy his bio below, courtesy of his handler, Brad:

"Bear is about 2 years old. His nickname is Tubby because he loves to eat and snack. He especially enjoys string cheese, hot dogs, lunch meat, and surprise, surprise..sausage, and hamburger! Bear loves to talk to anyone who will listen! He has proven to be a pretty good alarm clock too. He will get me up in the morning right around 7:30 am because he knows we go out to potty at 8 am and right after he gets his breakfast! He lets me know when he wants to go outside or when he wants some attention, which is actually more of a demand than a request!

Bear is a medium-sized dog and has a beautiful long fluffy fur coat that is well suited for cold weather. He LOVES the snow and will flop on his back to make snow bear angels immediately upon going outside and almost always prefers to walk in the snow instead of the sidewalk. Bear gets along well with dogs, he loves to wrestle and play chase. He is generally easygoing in social settings, and will gladly play, and share his toys with any dog friends. Bear has clear cues signaling that he wants a break, and will come and stand by my side, or behind me. Bear also loves his people and just wants to be with them all the time. He has shown some separation anxiety about being left all alone, so MCR staff created a training and management protocol that we work on every day. Bear will need someone who is home all the time to keep him company. He is now able to manage up to two hours in his crate alone with a set routine. Bear does well when he has a predictable daily schedule."

If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate friend to share your life with, Bear is the perfect match for you. Don't miss out on the opportunity to experience the love and companionship Bear has to offer.
