Meet Beanie

Hi, my name is Beanie! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Smart, sensitive, motivated
-Can Live with Kids: Sturdy 12+ kids that can handle a jumpy pup
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, possible with a slow intro but Beanie might have a strong prey drive
-Can Live with Dogs: Maybe, would do best with an older or calmer dog who isn't rambunctious. All intros will be done here at WHS
-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended, Beanie is a high energy dog who would prefer a yard
-Potty Trained: Appears to be!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, at least one private lesson required.
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes a spay and a MC
-Additional Information:
Meet Beanie, an intelligent husky/retriever mix looking for her forever home! Beanie is very food motivated (watch those fingers she can be a little rough when taking treats!) and would benefit from food puzzles to keep her mind busy. She is eager to learn, athletic and would enjoy someone who will take her on long hikes/runs or do dog sports with her. She can be a bit sensitive to rough handling and would prefer to be in a home where people would respect her boundaries. Beanie is still working on her confidence and might take some time to get used to new places and people. She likes to follow her nose and that can lead her into trouble (counter-surfing, getting into garbages, etc.) so it would best if her people were home more often than not or be willing to crate train. If you're ready to open your heart to this wonderful girl, please fill out an application at the front desk!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
