Meet Barney

Do you have the special sauce to bring Barney a lifetime of happiness? Barney is a very sweet, black, 18 month old puppy. Barney is a cordial boy with both people and other dogs; no snarky, reactive behaviors. Barney is an interactive family member and enjoys family time. (He’s not a loner!) BBs favorite activities are playing fetch, chewing bones, playing with toys galore, chasing/wrestling with his dog housemates, and eating. (Foodies are encouraged to apply.) Barney is a MVP outfielder and returns the ball near his handler. His new home should have the energy to engage in a fun game of fetch with him a few times a day. (A tired dog is a good dog!) Barney is tight (best friends) with the two large breed male dogs in his foster home. They chase, wrestle, snuggle and amicably share toys/bones. Barney’s next home will include another playful dog, of similar size, with like social skills. Barney is house-trained, and has free rein, including overnight in the bedroom. Barney will exit/enter his crate with glee. However, if left in a crate for more than a few hours, Barney can produce quite a concert. Lots of drama! This isn’t music one finds enjoyable. Therefore, for this reason, Barney’s adopter(s) must be home often (works from home, retired, etc.) without any plans of leaving Barney crated for long periods of time on a regular basis. Barney is currently crated for his meals and when his foster family is not home – but never for more than 4 consecutive hours. BBs fosterMom works part-time from home and this schedule agrees with Barney. Barney has exhibited exceptional behavior with both the Dog Walker and Grooming services his foster family employs. Barney has a tendency to get car sick; most likely from lack of travel experience in his previous life. However, travelling short-distances, with windows open, is helping him acclimate to car rides. The more rides he takes, the better he travels. Barney is a soft, sensitive boy. He took being an unclaimed stray and losing his family/home hard. When BarnBarn initially came to rescue, if something frightened him, he would pancake (hit the floor and freeze.) Barney gradually gained confidence during the first few weeks in foster care. Overall, Barney goes with the flow and tries hard to fit in. Barney is a people pleaser and enjoys learning new things. Barney’s new family will need to complete an obedience course, of their choosing, at their cost, shortly after adopting him. BarnBarn may enjoy competing in dog sports (nosework and agility) if one was so inclined. Barney’s new home must have a securely fenced in yard (no invisible fences.) Children under 9 years old would not appreciate Barney’s puppy enthusiasm. If you have the special sauce to provide this lovely puppy with a lifetime of happiness, please complete an adoption application and tell us how you plan to raise and train this puppy we call Barney, BarnBarn, BB.
