Meet Banks

"Hello! My name is Banks. I’m a complicated guy. I am super sweet, and love to play. I’ve yet to meet a dog I don’t like. The human friends I’ve made while staying here want to make sure I find a home that I will thrive in, so here’s a little about me from them!
“Banks came in to us terribly afraid, and lacking confidence. He cowered in his kennel, and flinched every time we tried to pet him. We aren’t entirely sure what his past life was like, but we guess he was either kept outside away from human interaction or not treated kindly. Since coming to us, he has slowly, but greatly, come around. He has a human friend who he now trusts, and allows to pet him and play with him. His personality has come out. He’s a big puppy with a gentle heart who wants to trust. He just doesn’t know how. It’s taken months to get him to the point he is at now with this friend, so we are going to need a very special home for him.”
Some more about Banks..
-We guess he is a Great Dane mix, weighing 94 lbs currently.
-He isn’t potty trained. He has gotten much better at keeping a clean kennel, but still has accidents overnight.
-He eats everything, so he would need heavy duty toys, and supervision when playing with them.
-He loves other dogs! He has been around dogs of all sizes and energy levels. We actually feel he would do better in a home with another dog.
-Older children would do best with Banks. He is a big dog and loves to jump and play. Smaller children may possibly get knocked down on accident.
-Banks takes quite a while to warm up to people. He needs someone who understands this and is willing to give him the time he needs to adjust. It won’t happen overnight.
-He is afraid of kennels, especially ones used to crate your dog in at night or when gone. He would benefit greatly from having a person home with him most of the time.
-He is great with cats. He spent the night in a home with cats, and didn’t bother them.
-Needs help learning to walk on a leash. He seems to be scared of them as well. He does do better in a harness, but he still doesn’t understand he can’t run to wherever he wants.
-He needs a fenced in backyard. He loves to run and jump! He hasn’t tried to jump any fences while with us.
Due to his special circumstances, we are going about his adoption a little differently. We want to set Banks up for success. Having him being returned to us due to no fault of his own will only complicate his understanding of humans further. Therefore, we would like to have potential adopters meet with Banks and his shelter human together. This person has spent almost every day he’s been here with him, and he has learned to trust her. If you feel you would be a good match for Banks, start by filling out an adoption application on our website. Please include any information you think would help us determine you are a match for Banks. We will reach out to potential adopters to schedule a time for you to meet him."

Our online applications and more info about our facility found at www.warrickhumanesociety.org. All of our dogs receive extra love and attention.

All of our dogs/puppies have received age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, flea/tick preventon and heartworm prevention. Plus they are spay/neutered, heartworm tested and microchipped prior to adoption.

We REQUIRE an approved application including vet reference for adoption and a home visit in some circumstances. Each dog will be placed in a home that is appropriate for that dog and we reserve the right to deny adoption for any reason.

Note: We can never guarantee if a dog is housebroken, but many of our dogs indicate that they are by keeping a clean kennel overnight. Our knowledgeable staff can help you select a pet that is the best fit for your home and family.
