Meet Bailey

Hello, Bailey here. I have been out with volunteers lately with what they call "socializing." I heard them say something like, "She is not the same dog outside of the shelter. Skittish-yes- but not shy."

Yeah, I'd have to agree with these volunteers. I can be a little bit spooked with new experiences, and the shelter is a scary place for me, but I am not shy. I also heard them say, "She is like a sponge and wants to soak up everything. She wants someone to lead her." I feel so fortunate to leave the shelter on little excursions to the outdoors or to the volunteers' home. They have this big dog that likes to play with me. The cat is my BFF too, and then they have this little beagle that is pretty cool as well. I know I need to be socialized with new experiences, but I catch on pretty quickly when someone is willing to teach me. I want a home so badly. Give me a chance. I might need a little time to understand what it is like to be in a house, but I am young, and you can still mold me into your perfect companion. I can learn.

So, here's the info you need. I am 10 months old. I am a mixed breed dog. Volunteers think I am a retriever mixed with Aussie, but they really don't know my breed. I love water and fetch. I have learned how to walk on a leash pretty well. I don't fight it like I used to do. I shed but my coat is as soft as velvet. I liked my bath, but the hair drier is scary. I am great for ear cleaning and nail trims.

I will need guidance with the potty training. I can hold it, but you will need to give me reminders to potty outside.

I know my tail tuck on first introductions might be a deterrent, but I am more outgoing on my excursions. I do get startled when faced with new experiences and sounds, but I just need exposure to new things and for you to let me o is that everything is okay. Please be my leader and my friend.
