Meet Bailee

Introducing Bailee! An adorable 8 month old lab mix. She is approximately 50 pounds and still a growing girl. Bailee came into our rescue when her owners realized that they couldn't provide her everything she needed to thrive. She has been settling into her foster home for the past couple of weeks and is now ready to find her forever home.

Bailee is enjoying her new life. Her foster dad enjoys taking her on long walks, beach play dates and even into stores. Bailee is doing really well and is learning that new people, places and dogs are not scary. She has an amazing foster brother that has been mentoring her and showing her how to be a dog. He really helps Bailee understand appropriate behavior, energy and gives her confidence.

Bailee's foster dad says that Bailee loves to play fetch. She can play endlessly if allowed. Bailee is doing well with potty training off leash but doesn't like going on a standard leash. Her foster dad is using an extra long leash to give her maximum privacy. Bailee will require a patient adopter to continue working on her potty training with her for continued success.

Bailee is learning to walk nicely on leash. She used to be afraid of the leash but has learned that when she wears it she can go on fun adventures. She can be a little reactive towards dogs on leash. This is mostly out of excitement to meet. She enjoys walking with her foster dad in his beach community and he said she is very well behaved when he takes her into stores. Bailee enjoys a lot of exercise she is currently walking 1.5 -2 miles twice a day. This seems to be a good balance for her because she will chill at home most of the day while her foster dad works.

Bailee enjoys her beauty rest. She loves to snuggle on the sofa. At night she likes to move from the sofa to the bed and sleep with her foster dad. Bailey currently uses a crate as another cozy place to hang out. Her foster dad says he lets her free roam while he's away and she is doing well with that.

Bailee is a little fearful of new places, people and dogs. She does well if she's given a proper introduction and time to warm up. Continued socialization will be very important to Bailee's continued success. Bailee's foster dad has noticed that if she feels cornered she will become frightened and may growl or nip. Bailee is also showing some mild separation anxiety. Her foster dad continues to make his coming and going insignificant. He is doing a great job ignoring her when he returns until she settles down. Bailee will need continued work in this area.

Bailee has so much potential and will be an even more amazing dog when she is trained! For Bailee to be successful in her adoptive home she requires another tolerant dog. She also needs an adopter that has the time and patience to continue training her.
