Meet Babs

Note: a secured fenced yard is an absolute must! This requirement is necessary for the safety of this little gal.
A babe with a rough start in life somewhat sums up little Babs beginnings - her early life was not warm and fuzzy. Three owners before coming into rescue has made her untrusting and unsure. Babs was rescued from a hoarded home (her mom was sick and died shortly after Babs came into rescue). Took us a couple of hours to catch her in the very nasty house. Her adjustment took months and she still remains wary altho’ now trusting enough to be petted, sit close and sleep under the covers at night. She still runs when she sees someone wants to pick her up - adamant she needs to go into safety flight mode. She’s darling and sweet once she begins to trust. Was sad to watch her struggle during her terrified months. Babs does well with other small dogs (altho’ bossy), goes outside or uses puppy pads, loves snuggling under blankets, believes treats are the best thing in life, alert, hasn’t got the hang of cuddling yet, sometimes barky, not large dog or cat tested, sturdy (for her size), healthy, still fearful of new people but confident in her own little eight pound self (she’s not a shaky Chihuahua), kinda sassy, enjoys couch potato time, doesn’t know how to play, intelligent and absolutely adorable! Considering her mistrust of people, she requires a quiet, calm adult home with patience to allow her to come around on her own terms (no children). A secure fenced yard is required. Watching her blossom into a more trusting and less scared little lass has been heart warming but it’s time for Babs to bond with her forever someone(s). All in all, she’s come a long way since we picked her up out of the hoarded mess in May. Patience will be the ticket for Babs’ life to be successful - there will be no immediate trust on her part - don’t push and she will come around. Love, kind words and treats will win her heart. We know her brave little heart has the capacity to truly love. If you have the love and patience to improve little Babs’ trust and life and wish to be considered as her life-time pet parent, email kkcalaska@gmail.com and request an adoption application! (We do require a completed adoption application prior to all adoptions.)
