Suspicious for soft tissue injury. Patient displayed concerning behavior during examination including growling after repeated attempts to mount nurse. Concerned for behavioral decline in shelter. (3/9) Initial Exam - Unable to check mouth due to behaviorBehavior Observation: (4/19) Easy to leash, approached front of kennel with soft body. Moderate pulling on leash. Once outside he became frustrated that he could not go into the front parking lot and began mounting my leg. I used the fence as a tie out and was able to make some distance where he could not mount. He continued to attempt to mount for about 3 minutes until he was distracted by a smell and I was able to redirect his attention and we could start walking again. No issues returning to the building or kennel.(4/16) Initially baring teeth when kennel is approached, followed by a snap. Treat offered and snapped again, but then realizing it was a treat, stopped, and ate quickly off ground. Low growled while visiting dog in kennel nextdoor, handler turned and offered another treat. Dog's body language significantly loosened and interaction was ended. Came back to kennel some time later, and dog stood at front of kennel, slightly stiff. Was able to offer treat, then open kennel door and loop with no issue. Pulls moderately on leash while outside. Appeared nervous with excessive activity on campus and other dogs in area, so took dog to covered run. Dog stayed by gate door and scratched. Would come when called but then immediately go back to gate door. Walked nicely with minimal pulling back inside the building, and went into Evaluation Room. Sought attention from handler and allowed slow petting. Played with a stuffed toy but quickly lost interest. Easily brought back to kennel and allowed lead to be removed without issue.(4/15) Artica approaches front of kennel with a soft body and sits, easy to leash, pulls moderate on leash. Once in the play yard he paws at the gate to exit with ears back, lip licking. Outside the yard he allows handling and will solicit attention from handler with ears back, tail down, mouth closed. Easily goes back into kennel.(4/13)Per previous owner - active, sensitive, nervous, aggressive to strangers, hyperactive, great with cats, comes when calls, aggressive around toys, jumps on people, destructive-scratches/digs, snaps at people, aggressive around toys, affectionate great dog just randomly decides to "switch up and attack."(3/13) Per Vet Staff -- Very friendly initially. Growled when examining his shoulder. After repeated attempts to mount nurse, patient began growling while attempting to mount and examination was discontinued This animal is currently available through ACCT Philly's Adoptions Programs.
